Youth Sailing

June 30 - Aug 21

Welcome aboard! We are pleased to announce the fifteenth year of the Orcas Island Junior Sailing Program. Sail Orcas Website.

Junior Sailing offers students between the ages of 8 and 15 an opportunity to learn to sail in a variety of boats and under a variety of conditions. Our fleet includes 6 Vanguard Prams, 7 Lasers and 3 Club Flying Juniors. Students are encouraged to progress in their sailing ability to larger, faster and more sophisticated boats.

Please understand that all of our classes are for kids who are truly interested in sailing and/or learning to sail. We expect students to be in the boats every day and to be prepared to learn and have fun when they arrive.

REGISTRATION: Classes are on a first-come, first-served basis. Click here for a printable registration form. Only receipt of your completed form and check for the fee constitutes a firm reservation. You will not receive a confirmation or response unless the session selected is full and it is necessary to sign-up for a different date. Assume that you are registered unless you hear from us otherwise.

Need-based scholarships for the class fees are available and we encourage you to apply. For information on registration or obtaining financial assistance, contact Didier Gincig at the Orcas Recreation Program 376-5339.

INSTRUCTOR INFO: Hannah Tuson-Turner is returning as the lead instructor in 2008. Hannah went through the Junior Sailing program, raced successfully with Orcas High School, and is now sailing competitively for the University of Hawaii. She is certified USA Sailing Instructor.
