Grandparent/Grandchild Match Program

The Grandparent/Grandchild Match Program will bring generations together to share common interests. Matching “Grandparents and Grandchildren” will agree to meet once a month (or more) and share time together. Matching seniors who don’t have grandchildren on the island with children who don’t have grandparents on the island.

Seniors and children will complete a form to indicate their interests (such as reading, cooking, playing cards, going for walks, photography, writing, singing, etc.).

Then we will match “Grandparents and Grandchildren”.

Men will be matched with boys and women with girls.

Staff from the Orcas Island Recreation Program will be available to children, their families, and seniors to support your relationship. We will have a meeting before the program begins to answer questions and share information to help the match be a success.

Please call the Orcas Island Recreation Program office and we will mail you an interest inventory form. Your phone call can make a big difference in the life of a child and a senior community member.
