Dear Orcas Island Community,

We invite you to make a difference in the lives of many families by offering a tax-deductible donation to the Orcas Island Recreation Program. We contribute to the well-being of our community in many ways. Now in our fifteenth year, we have a strong track record of offering year-round opportunities for Orcas Island children of all ages, from preschool through high school.

  • Hundreds of children have learned to swim in Swim Lessons.
  • Thousands of scholarship dollars have been awarded to families in financial need allowing children to participate in our year-round activities.
  • For nearly a decade, the After School Program has provided a safe and fun setting for kids while their parents are at work.
  • Over one hundred-thirty boys and girls participate each year in our Fall Youth Soccer Program
  • Terrific summer activities are enjoyed by children of all ages.
  • From Fall to Spring, many families swim together during Community Open Swim.
  • Families arriving to the island tap into the community during Rec. Program activities.

Our programs include:

  • Theater, Arts, Music, Sports, Swim Lesson, After School Programs
  • An extensive summer program for children of all ages
  • Field trips for kids and families, Nature Walks, Whale Watching, Summer Day Camps
  • Fall Youth Soccer

Children who are involved with our programs:

  • Acquire life-long skills and interests while interacting with children and adults of many ages.
  • Are team members and community members and are less likely to get into trouble.
  • Build self-esteem and confidence in settings that allow personal choice.

While the county is the “backbone” of our organization, it accounts for approximately 16% of our funding. The remainder comes from participation fees (which we keep as affordable as possible), grants, and community donations. With your support we will continue to offer our wide assortment of programs and continue to be a vital part of our wonderful community! Thank you.
